Isn't she precious?

I love my dog. Oh, and I just received a letter from Adobe banning me from Photoshop. Forever.

A little extra.

While I was drawing today's theme, I cranked out a little doodle:

I have no idea why I drew a hedgehog riding a bicycle, but I thought it to be bolg-worthy.

O.K. I was hoping for this 1970s anime snazy-suit look (á la the 1990s series Giant Robo), but they just ended up in silly leisure suits. I couldn't help but being reminded of Barry and Levon once I was finished. $240 worth of pudding is a lot of pudding.

ah...Legos. One of my favorite toys from back in the day. The possibilities were endless. My nextdoor neighbor would always get all the huge sets (like the pirate ship or space shuttle); we'd spend long hours making them perfect and then tearing them apart to create bizarre hybrids (like jungle-racecar-pirate-spaceships). Good times...

Everyday, this blog gets a little bit more nerd-tacular. I tried to hide it at first, but then I thought, "A little tiny bit of nerd every now and then would be ok, wouldn't it?" So, there you go. On a side note, this is actually my first attempt at creating the 'old-comic-book' look. Super-fun. I think I might just ask Photoshop to marry me someday. I'm also beginning to think that I'm taking the themes a wee bit too seriously (this entry is my proof). I mean the stay-up-too-late -figuring-out-how-to-get-the-colors-just-right kind of seriousness, as opposed to the this-is-an-important-life-changing-decision kind of seriousness, which is a good thing (the latter tends to result in much more stress). By now, deductive reasoning should have lead you to believe that I have left Maine to study at Professor Xavier's School for the Gifted. Which I have.

Love Stinks.

As promissed, a "From the Vault" animation. This was done back in winter of 2003 during my senior year of college, while taking an animation class. It's done with sand on a light box and is shot on film (that's about as technical I can get). Might I add that the music was written by yours truly, and performed by myself and Mr. Joel Frenzer (who also supplied some amazing sound effects). Oh, and it's really short. (It was a one-day project)

whew. This one made me sad, but it has a happy ending...This is actually how our family found it's first cats. Way back before I was born, my mum got off work at the restaurant she worked at to find two teeny orange and white kittens dumped out back. She took them home and the rest was history.

Alright!

I'm back from Canada!

This is my inflated head (courtesy of Ann) at the Montréal Science center.

Montréal was full of friendly folks, Coffee Crisps (my new favourite candy bar), poutine (oh, heavenly mound of fried potato, gravy, and cheese curds), and LOTS of walking. I've managed to catch up on posting the themes, and I even figured out how to link things (finally). Oh, the wonders of the interwebs. This week I hope to throw in some posts that aren't themes (I like to mix it up). There might even be a "From the Vault" animation coming to DOTS FOR EYES. Who knows?! Thanks for all the kind words and comments so far; I'm loving this whole 'blog' thing.

Oh! Canada!

Sorry about the slack in the posts; I'm currently in lovely Provindence, RI. But tomorrow morning, I'm heading to CANADA! This is my first time back since 2002, and I can't wait. I'm still keeping with the themes, but I have no access to a scanner, so there will be a week long (grunt) hiatus for posts. Oh, but when I return, there will be bountiful drawings (and maybe even some pictures) to peruse...for YOUR viewing pleasure! Au revoir!

Oh Hannah, you pant so much.

This is Hannah. She is 12 years old. Sometimes I look after her when certain people go on vacation. She pants incessantly. And she likes to sneak onto the couch when you're sleeping and get it all stinky-like, when she KNOWS she's not even supposed to be on the couch. Then I come in and find her on the couch and yell, "Get off the couch, stinky-dog!!" So she does, but then she gives me the "I'm sorry" eyes. Oh, how the "I'm sorry" eyes burn right into your heart. I give her a biscuit and 5 minutes later, when I'm not paying attention to her, she goes into the garbage and eats used tissues. But I still love her.

New Category: From the Vault

Alrighy, seeing as how I haven't written many words of late, here's something: I've decided to post old drawings from the 'vault' of past sketchbooks. I've been filling them with doodles, as well as other odds'n'ends since 1999, so I thought it might be nice to have those doodles see the light of day once again. I'm not going to do them in any particular order, but I'll try to include the date I made the drawing when possible (sometimes I just don't know). Here goes:

I did this near-spring of 2000; it's one of the first comics I drew in my sketchbook.

The elusive 'Ghost Poop'.
